Lesson 1

This study begins at Acts 10:1. The Christian movement began as distinctively Hebrew. We see the Gentile, Cornelius, converted to Christ in this chapter. The Christian church began as a development of Hebraism. The admission of the man Cornelius rocked the church to its very center and threatened to divide it.

Lesson 2

When the news that the Gentiles had received the Word of God was received by the apostles, they contended with Peter for eating with Gentiles. The Word of God grew and multiplied in spite of kings, and peoples and prisons.

Lesson 3

In this story in Acts 13, without any announcement or reason given, Saul’s name is changed to Paul. The great missionary movement is begun. Many important things important to the early church occurred in Antioch.

Lesson 4

Beginning in Acts 13:13-Acts 13:41. Paul had been preaching in his hometown of Tarsus. Barnabas came seeking him for missionary work. The journey from Perga in Pamphylia to Antioch in Pisidia was troubled with many difficulties. One of these was the defection of John Mark.

Lesson 5

Acts 14 in this study. In Acts 14:1-20 we follow Paul and his company to the furthest outward limit of their first missionary journey. At Antioch and Iconium, God delivered Paul by saving him from the stones. At Lystra, God delivered him through stoning.

Lesson 6

Acts 15:1-35. The gathering in Jerusalem was for the purpose of consultation and not for final and dogmatic decisions. The important thing is that the man whom the Spirit will guide is the man who is in the attitude in which it is possible for the Spirit to guide him.

Lesson 7

Paul’s desire to see Rome was not as a tourist but as a missionary. He wanted to reach it for Christ. What two methods did Satan try to use on Paul (the same he uses on us)?

Lesson 8

We begin this study with Acts 17. The story of the work in Europe gathers around 2 places: Thessalonica and Berea. The work in Thessalonica was one of triumph and trial, springing out of the jealousy, or the zeal of the Jews.

Lesson 9

Acts 17 once again. The final NT scene in Athens. In Paul’s address to the Athenians, he said nothing calculated to offend or drive away the men he sought to win. The most hopeful things in humanity today are its restlessness, its intensity, its disgust. These are open doors for the Christian preacher.

Lesson 10

Acts 18, beginning with verse 24. In the New Testament narrative, Ephesus is the outstanding and representative church to which two letters are addressed. Ephesus was a city notorious for idolatry. How did this affect his ministry?

Lesson 11

Chapters 19-20 will take your emotions on a roller coaster ride. In chp. 19 Paul and helpers go to Ephesus, a miracle occurs, and the city union blows up. Chp. 20 tells how the Ephesian church elders responded when Paul serves them notice that he is leaving and will never return.

Lesson 12

Beginning in Acts 21, Paul ends his 3rd missionary journey and then begins his extradiction journey to appear before Caesar in Rome. Paul is accousted in the Jewish Temple and beaten by a mob and hauled off in chains by Roman soldiers.

Lesson 13

In chapters 22 & 23, Paul is his own legal defense team before Jewish officials in Jerusalem. Paul’s emotions run from firey temper to humility. A mob takes a public oath to murder Paul. Learn how the plot is foiled and how God uses the situation to bring Paul before some of the country’s highest officials.

Lesson 14

In Acts 25 & 26, Paul defends himself before 2 governors and King Herod. King Herod’s response is a classic.

Lesson 15

In this final lesson you will see Paul narrowly escape with his life after his ship is capsized by the effects of a vicious storm; he arrives on an island of murdering natives and Paul miraculously survives a lethal attack by a viper. Paul arrives in Rome and is taken to his confining quarters. Guess what he does from here?
